hey all-
lots of quick replies to my inquiry on that Australian refugee prison
video. I'll go ahead & order from #2; #1 also sounds very worthwhile
but I don't know if we want to be spending $25-30 a tape (I can't!):

hi would realy encourage you to seek out the other woomera video. it is
called "holiday camp" and in my opinion is a better video, which also
looks at indigenous links around woomera.

film/documentary: "Holiday Camp"
How is your liberation bound up with mine?
( a drive-by shooting production ) 45 mins
"Holiday Camp" is a 45 min. documentary, which investigates the current
Australian immigration policies in the context of 200 years of
colonization. It is currently screening throughout Europe. The
BORDERPANIC project hosted the Australian premier, in Sydney, on the
11th of September. Holiday Camp connects the issues of indigenous
dispossession, genocide, and the incarceration of refugees. It explores
the implications of the mandatory detention system and the construction
of national borders. A poster and synopsis are available on request.
VHS copies of the film are available at the screening or by mail order;
$25 - $30 (We are a self-funded collective dedicated to supporting this
issue and would appreciate financial support to continue this work)

hi matt,
this is amex, i've been involved with brisbane indy and we produced a
video called 'waking up the nation', which is about all australian
detention centres, and pretty full on. I would be happy to send you a
video (pal, sorry) of 'waking up' aswell as the woomera2002 video all
on one tape. I'm in amsterdam now, so if you have any friends here i
could pass on the vid to them to save you postage $$, otherwise it'll
be 10 euros for pastage/packing.
bye for now

Hey
this is access news in Melbourne. We produced the Woomera film you were
talking about. Ok so we sell vids on Pal for $25 AUS per vid + $15 os
postage..we cant convert to pal, but we can send you a mini dv insted
of a vhs - wich might be easier to convert. There is the option of
swapping some video from your area for this film, as we are allways
interested in recieving global news video.. so yeah let us know what
you want to do
Cheers

Note that we will need to be doing a lot of PAL -> NTSC conversion*;
does anyone have a hook-up on that? should CIMC invest in a used PAL
vcr to dub them over ourselves? we can't be paying places to do this
everytime... even if we find a cheap place on Devon, those fees will
add up mighty fast.

*ie, the VHS format used by the rest of the world is incompatible with
VCRs used in N. America.
