[CIMC-work] quick thoughts on center column

I want to say that I trust the judgements of folks doing the physical work
of center column coding.
One thought I had was that as it seems we will have a massive amount of
information coming through in the next few days and as well as the next week
or two (?) that we should utilize more of the entire front page. Meaning,
have a story block that can be updated to local anti-war actionas it comes
in, within their own sub-areas they would be chronological, such as school
walkout as one subtitle, downtown civil disobedience another, Federa Plaza
rallies, etc. This would all be stuff pulled from our newswire.
And then we save a smaller (2" or so) space at the top for big
important, more time based center features. Like if the National guard is
called into the city or local muslims are being rounded up or other bad
things. As a new thing replaces the top feature the old one goes below the
massive Local Anti-War block. If we get into the second week perhaps a
second Massive Local Anti-War Block should be started if the old one is
chock-full.
I'm sure Dick and others were already thinking on this. These thoughts
occurred to me and I thought to convey them. The thing that struck me was
that though we are website based, we can actually be a stabilising element
at a time that people will be bombarded with information. The Massive Local
Anti-War Block can help to reclaim the invisible bottom part of the Front
Page. Hope I make sense, Garth
