RE : Video Project Workshop
INVITATION TO ATTEND, INVITATION TO SHOW YOUR WORK
MAY 31 at Jones High School, State at Harrison, day-long TEACH-IN
Building Democracy: Knowledge and Actoin in an Age of War and Repression
WORKSHOPS and one is the VIDEO PROJECT
THE VIDEO PROJECT. NSC and CCAWR
are working to get a network of videographers and
photographers and PEOPLE showing and producing
works.
This is a proposal for a
VIDEO PROJECT involving those, like me,
who have videos, photos, digital images from
our historical movement in solidarity.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT.
It is a fair presumption that people have lots of images
from demonstrations, workshops and interviews. Some
have edited video shorts which are very smart.
Basic idea is to give people a chance to present and
share with others, to talk about America's sham,
its popularly opposed imperialist ambitions.
THE PURPOSE IS to get these people with their
images to show and a curious appreciative public
together. Some people use cameras to document
experiences; other people are hungry for good
information.
People need to talk about the on-going wars,
and strategies to stop this insanity. These video
photo settings should be very useful public
education and developing consensus.
We intend that it becomes on-going.
Let's get ready for a FIRST PUBLIC SHOW
end of June or sooner
AGENDA - Sa my31
1. Who we are and who we might be
2. Consent on agenda
3. Screen videos, show photos, talk and plan
4. First show and subsequent ones (types, settings)
5. Philosophically create umbrella consensus with VISION
We think the premise is correct: We have a growing library of
people's media documentation with limited audience, but that
there are lots of people who'd like to see this stuff.
At this workshop, May 31, we'll have 75 minutes to get
down the agenda. People attending will decide what next to do.
People have done camera documentation personally and seriously
from the beginning. The techniques, equipment and basic methods
should be common! It should be as common as the telephone,
for it is a critically useful language.
In Chicago we should have a recognized collective of
videographers, photographers and public. Training
should be freely accessible to anyone. People should
have access to cameras, an editing suite and photo
processing.
A collective could facilitate the creating and
sharing of videos, photo and power point shows.
