Some confusion here....
Let's see if I can offer yet more clarification about CIMC and 501(c)3
activities.

Some of CIMC's activities are clearly and legitimately OK under IRS rules
for tax-exempt organizations. Those activities can be supported by
tax-exempt donations given to our fiscal agent (8th Day Center for Justice)
and carried out as an activity or expense of the 8th day Center's IMC
project. We merely must be able to demonstrate that an amount equal to those
tax-exempt donations has been spent on legitimate tax-exempt activities.

CIMC is free to conduct any other activities, using its own (i.e. not
donated as a tax-exempt contribution or grant) funds, with NO governmental
restrictions. So CIMC is free to cnduct any kind of party or video-showing
or political campaign or ... it wishes, so long as it does not use any
tax-exempt donations to do so.

The issue of whether, as CIMC, we want to be affiliated with MoveOn's
campaign, which would identify us as somehow affiliated with them, is
another matter altogether.

I am a supporter of MoveOn myself. But I personally would prefer to have
individuals do the party if they want to, and not associate CIMC as sponsor
of the effort. CIMC needs to remain independent of any organizations,
however worthy, since we cannot manage to participate in ALL of them.
