on the Picket Line 


WHAT: Celebration of Mexican Independence Day 

WHO:	Congress strikers and their families 

WHERE:	Congress Hotel, 520 S. Michigan Ave. 

DATE:	Monday, September 15 

TIME: 5:30 p.m. 


On the eve of Mexican Independence Day, and on the 3-month anniversary of the strike, Congress 
strikers will celebrate this important holiday on the picket line. Strikers and their families will enjoy 
traditional food, music and festivities. Many of the strikers were born in Mexico and came to the USA 
seeking a better life for their families, only to be find themselves fighting for their very livelihood at the 
Congress hotel. 

Workers at the other downtown union hotels received a large raise over a year ago, and yet Congress 
workers had their pay cut unilaterally by the rogue hotel. The strike began on June 15.
