Tom, Thomas, all,
This is a crucial point that Tom raises.
Our G4 is video-editing-capable, *now*. I'll assume that CIMC-Video has at
least one digital camcorder ready to go. Therefore we have the equipment
with which to welcome newer people who may have thought about doing some
kind of community-related, video-based project. Perhaps it's been a nagging
feeling, but they haven't had the thousands of dollars to lay down for their
own equipment. Or, even if they have the equipment, maybe they want to gain
some confidence by working with experienced video people.
So, I suggest we create outreach materials, like flyers and half-sheets,
that speak to this kind of person. I'd be glad to run with this idea myself,
or work with CIMC/Video people. Please feel free to write ideas down, sketch
a flyer layout, or whatever.
Incidentally, I ran across an excellent piece of software, though I haven't
had a chance to try it out. It's won awards. It allows one to use their
DV/D8 camcorder as a tape drive backup for data, at 15 gigs per tape (!!!)
