All

I have been unable to provide full notes of our last few meetings online so I
figured I'd give you a summary of what we have discussed in the last few weeks
to get up to speed. If anyone has any questions I have our notes on file so I
can always elaborate if needed. I have left out expired details such as
deadline discussions and planning of Beat Kitchen event etc. I have included
only information that may be relevant today.

Meeting:2/16/04
Attending:
-Thomas Yun, Mitchell Szczepanczyk, Joe Lukey, Andrew McAvinchey, Jon Groot,
Tom Baker, Fred Hickler, Chris Bravo, Malian Lahey

The web page was discussed and it was proposed that people make suggestions as
to what we would like on the page as well as give design ideas. It was also
suggested that we look into using a P2P file sharing network along the lines
of Kazaa or the recently proposed Indymedia P2P network to distribute our tv
show. Episodes should all be available online at any rate and linked via the
web page.

Outreach was discussed and it was proposed that a distributed DVD screening
across the city be done along the lines of a recent promotional screening
event organised by Move On Uncovered. Awareness of the event could be spread
via email etc. In any case it was decided the episodes of the show that were
available should be packaged and distributed.

More public and screenings and shows were called for.

Meeting:3/1/04
Attending: Amy, Jon, Thomas, Tom, Fred.

PSAs:
There was a discussion as to whether the same PSAs should be used in each
episode. It was decided that until replacements were found that the PSAs would
remain the same, although this was something that should be moved away from as
soon as possible.

Episode 4:
Deadlines:
March 31st:features deadine
April 1st-4th: Intros
April 5th:Final Screening
April 6th/7th: Revisions
April 8th: Submit to CAN-TV

Website:
"Buttons" or similare device needed to indicate such things as: How to join
in, where to submit etc. Phone number needed for contact or answering machine
in Indymedia offices.

Working Group Proposal:
A working group was proposed to solve the problem of "reinventing the show"
for every episode. The group would come up with a "spine" for the show
incorporating design, identity, PSAs, Intro, Bumpers, which could all be used
for the following episodes until a new spine was made. The group would work
through April, May and June to come up with a spine for the July episode and
beyond.

PSAs were considered to be an area that should be outside the control of this
working group and perhaps should be part of a seperate working group of their
own. In addition, it was proposed that there should be an online submission
library for PSAs on the site.

The Working Group proposal should be posted online and have a new spine by
July 10th submission to CAN-TV.

Tape Stock:
Money is needed for tape stock and other production costs. The need for funds
could be met both by approaching the general collective and by fundraising. It
was discussed whether or not it would be best to set up an account with a
store or to buy in bulk.

Video Camera donation:
Don Goldhamer has apparently offered a video camera to the Video collective
which it was agreed was very generous and needed to be followed up.

Distribution:
Once again it was brought up that suburban stations need to be reached and
that this needed to be acted on soon. A seasonal DVD package for distribution
was suggested also. This could be released as part of a large promotional
event.

Meeting:3/15/04
Attending: Thomas, Andrew, Jon, Mitchell, Alloy, Tom Baker, Dorian, Chris,
Joe.

Jon gave some tips for shooting in protest/crowd situations:
wide shots where possible, try not to use zoom, walk towards the action
instead. Use an external mic for interviews. Interview people rather than film
their speeches from the podium only. Use the "Hip Shot" for covert filming.

Paper Edit of Episode 4:

1. M20 "serious" piece
2. Weapons Of Mass Destruction piece
3. Kathy Kelly piece
4. M20 "light" piece"
5. March 4th extras/

Additional pieces were suggested for back ups, including pieces being
submitted to members of the collective.

It was suggested that the students featured in the WMD piece be featured as
guest presenters for E4.

Episode 5:
Deadlines:
April 28th: Features deadline
May 3rd: Final screening
May 4th/5th: revisions
May 7th: Show locked
May 10th: Submission to CAN-TV

Working Group:
Members now include Andrew McAvinchey, Mitchell Szczepanczyk, Thomas Yun, Jon
Groot, Al Ramirez,

Indymedia Newsreel:
Pieces have been requested featuring M20 footage by Indymedia Newsreel.
Features from the show will be submitted.

Consensus model/Process:
Further clarification of the consensus model and how it operate within the
collective was called for. Conflict resolution, process etc. needs to be
adopted/clarified.

Workshop:
A Video workshop attended and given by members of the Video collective was
proposed for April 4th. This date has since been modified at a General
Collective meeting to April 11th. Proposed modules: Video uploads, Shooting,
Sound were proposed as possible areas of interest.
