MILITARY FAMILIES SPEAK OUT.
Featuring
Nancy Lessin and Charley Richardson, Co-Founders of Military Families Speak Out
Fran Johns, Member of Military Families Speak Out - Chicago
Jan Schakowsky, Congresswoman, 9th Congressional District
ü What are the "ground truths" of the human statistics of this pre-emptive war that we do not get from the government or the media?
ü What are the long-term impacts from exposure to depleted uranium, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other war-related illnesses?
ü What are our alternatives for getting out of this quagmire? How do we prevent another war like this from happening again?
ü What are the financial costs of this war and its impact on domestic priorities?
Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) is an organization of people who have relatives or loved ones in the military, and are opposed to the war in Iraq. The organization grew out of a belief that these families have a special need and unique role to play in speaking out against the war. MFSO has challenged the legality of this war in the federal courts. Their membership has grown to over 1000 as they continue to tell the stories of loved ones and the tremendous toll this war is taking upon families across the nation.
Nancy Lessin and Charley Richardson have worked tirelessly to get the real story out about this war and the military families who are being asked to pay the ultimate price. They have traveled from coast to coast organizing vigils, speaking out at national rallies, and testifying before Congress.
This event is sponsored by the following organizations: North Suburban Peace Initiative, Northern Lake County Citizens for Peace, North Shore Women for Peace, Voices in the Wilderness, Chicagoans Against War and Injustice, American Friends Service Committee, Democratic Party of the 49th Ward, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and Veterans for Peace, Lake Street Church Peace and Justice Committee, Healing Earth Bookstore
This is a free event, bring a friend.
