Dear Collective,

some information:
1. Spine Working Group to meet on Wednesday @ 7 p.m. at SEMA4's place,
1623 W. 16th. Bring your imagination. (Spine refers to the design and
look of the television show.)

2. Episode 4 will simulcast at 10 p.m. on CAN-TV and at the May Day event
on May 1. We will request Version fest to synchronize as well as we will
give them Episode 1-4 to play. The second airing of Episode 4 will be May
8th at 7 p.m.

3. A few thoughts on the G4 editing suite. I spoke with Demetrio
Maguidad, of the Ritual Multimedia collective who works exclusively on
Macs and has been editing video since analog. He corroborated much of
what Andrew had to say about the hard drive requirements - 80 GM for
thirty minutes of *rendered* video. However, he also confirmed what I
felt to be true, that if there are no files to be rendered the 17 GB is
more than adequate for an hour or more of digital video. That means if we
are merely compiling videos that don't require any further processing it
is 12 GB per hour of digital video. If we keep it simple, i.e. no IMC
bugs in the corner of the screen and edit titles on a separate computer,
we won't have the huge render file problem. He also offered us a copy of
Premiere 6.5, which from my experience does not eat up so much space if we
have to render files. Also, Dorian Breuer of the Pilsen Greens informs me
that they will be setting up a video editing suite at their offices soon.
