Garth, (Rita, all,)
I agree with what you're saying -- it's great to have industry experience
and be able to relate it to anyone who's interested.
As a point of process, I'd suggest we "work backwards" on any skillshares we
plan out. What would we want to accomplish? What exactly do participants
want to know about? Specifics, specifics....

maybe we don't have to think about regular trainings, but at this coming
meeting we can think about who we've got on our
volunteer lists and get something together. we can even post something on
the newswire to the effect of "want to learn
more about doing media work?" like a skills share day.
something i realized from our training is how committed we are to our media.
it became apparent through our efforts to
connect with the audience. i think they definitely learned stuff, but for
myself, it felt like it took a good mental effort to bring
things down to a more useable level. it also became apparent when the video
kids started pulling out their 'irons'. not at
all saying it's a bad thing! i think that it's notable that a lot of us
'core' volunteers carry a mark of displacement from our
chosen fields. and i don't think any of us trying to be elitist with the
indymedia project, i think it's appropriate that we can
serve as positive 'leaders'
my thoughts,

Thanks, folks. I think I learned more than the participants.
I think it would be hard to do regular trainings until we actually have
an office again.
Ah, a CIMC office. Wouldn't that be nice?
