You should be able to create an account for him through the admin 
section.  Go to /admin/, then select "Editors" in the leftbar menu.  
There's a link at the bottom to create a new editor account.  You may 
wish to create an account for yourself as well.  You'll can probably 
give him some random password, and he can use the forgotten password 
form to change it.
