Everything is dependent on something. I don't see this as a problem.
People have jobs -- and if their job is funded by a Soros grant, is
that really so bad? I think it's unfair to blackball people who are
probably doing good work, because you don't like their employer.
However, I don't know what else they are asking for. Do the Acorn
people want a little note on the site, kind of like we have at the
bottom left of our site? That's not too big a deal, though I would
hope that they don't see themselves as heros just because they set some
software up -- it's the long-term commitment of keeping the software up
that's the difficult part. But if that's what they are offering, then
I see no problem at all.
There's recently been a spurt of people volunteering to do tech on the
imc-tech mailing list. I don't know if that matters particularly or
not -- offers aren't the same as actual work, but then hopefully some
of those people will become acclimated and productive. Anyway, we're
not devoid of tech, but again it's the long-term commitment that's
really valuable.
Now, maybe there's some impression that Acorn and the Community
Wireless people are using US-IMC for their own dastardly intentions to
attain more grant money. I don't know. I don't see any of that from
the email you copied, but then I wouldn't expect to from the context.
