in my oversight, i left a few things out of that solicitation for input. it's become something of a non-issue anyway. but I can
give an update at sunday's meeting.

Absolutely -- very well said, Ian -- I agree entirely. One always has to
look at the fine print and look for any strings attached, as with any
financial transaction. But we/anyone shouldn't just have a blanket policy of
turning down free money that can be used for constructive purposes. So I'd
say the Soros grant is certainly worthy of IMC consideration and discussion,
and possibly approval.

If there is to be a us.indymedia.org site of syndicated stories, the process
of creating it should be very open and not ad-hoc like the very first batch
of IMC local sites.... CIMC participants have expressed objections about the
whole concept of a US-centric (that is, Anglo-oriented) site, instead of
jump-starting (or waiting) for Global South regional sites to start first.

More and more, the U.S. seems to resemble the former U.S.S.R., except that
instead of people pretending to work and the rulers pretending to pay them,
our rulers are pretending to scare us and we are pretending to be scared.
