Hello, collective,

the Bolivarians are calling for a Global day of Solidarity with their
comrades who have been arrested in Guadalajara during protests against the
E.U. Latin-America summit. They are planning demonstrations at the
Mexican consulate in Chicago on Friday at noon and are asking if anyone is
available from Indymedia for coverage. Unfortunately, I work from 9-3 so
I cannot make this. Is anyone available?

BOLIVARIAN ALERT: FRIDAY JUNE 4 GLOBAL DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH PRISONERS OF
GUADALAJARA. TO THE MEXICAN CONSULATES!

Bolivarian Companer at s of Chicago,
Our Mexican comrades who were protesting in
Guadalajara against the E.U.-Latin America summit have been brutally
repressed and taken prisoners (almost 100 arrests). The abuses go from
extreme physical violence to sexual harrasment and psychological
intimidation. At any rate, they are in urgent need of monetary assistance
and active solidarity and you can help in
one or two ways:
1) you can donate money online to help pay for the bail (around 5
thousand dollars per person!) if you go to:
http://guadalajara.mediosindependientes.org/

2) and the other option, perhaps more important...
is that on friday june 4 is the global day of solidarity... where people
all over the world are going to the mexican consulates of their city
demanding the release of the political prisoners.
Here in Chicago we are planning to go to the Mexican consulate (300 North
Michigan Ave., Chicago) at 12 noon on Friday June 4th with the list of
demands that people are using around the world for this cause (see list
below).
please write back to katrina at calleymedia.org to coordinate logistics. it
is very important to have indymedia people who can write a story about the
action and take pictures since at indymedia global they will compile all
the stories and write a feature about the global day of action.

actions are being coordinated in new york, boston, austin, caracas, all
over mexico and europe.

in terms of going to the consulte it can be as simple as bringing the
people together, making a banner, and handing the following demands at the
consulate (sent by our Mexican comrades working on the release of the
prisoners):

WE DEMAND:

FIRST- The immediate release of every prisoner and the halt of any legal
procedure against them.

SECOND- That the authorities present a truthful account with all the names
of the prisoners.

THIRD- The immediate end of all actions of intimidation that have been
carried out against the prisoners, their families, and those who have
already been released.

FOURTH- We demand that the physical integrity of all the prisoners is
guaranteed and the immediate end of any type of torture that has been
carried out against them.

FIFTH-The organizations hereby present, as well as the families of the
prisoners, put direct responsibility on the President of the United States
of Mexico, Vicente Fox Quesada and the Governor of Jalisco, Francisco
Ramírez Acuña, in terms of the physical integrity of the prisoners and
their families as part of a general repressive strategy used by the
government apparatus.

SIXTH- That the participation of the defense lawyers is permitted.
