[CIMC-work] Re: Minutes from Yesterday's (6/13/04) General Collective Meeting

Present: Don, Mitchell, Dick, Rita, Chris G., Eric, Dorina and Garth

  1.. Discussion regarding the video media collective concluded with a decision by the general collective to send members of the general collective to the next video media collective meeting.  Chris G., Alloy and Eric were suggested as representatives who would attend the Monday, June 21 meeting. 
  2.. Don gave a brief treasurer's report: there is $200 "in the bank". 
  3.. Rent is due at the end of the month in the amount of $450 (for three months). 
  4.. Chris G. reported that Indymedia can do a fundraising event at the Hothouse in October at the earliest. 
  5.. Other fundraising events are scheduled for July 10 including Chris G. and Kristi Phillips (sp?) attempting to do video sales activity and Don suggesting that Chicago-IMC do a literature/paraphernalia table at the Peace Festival on 7/10. 
  6.. Logistics for the upcoming DNC in Boston with the Social Forum starting Friday, 7/23 and the actual convention running Monday, 7/26 through Thursday, 7/29.  Eric is going with the Kucinich group for the entire duration.  Others arranging logistics are Don, Dick, Garth and Dorina.  They will be doing research on travel and accommodations. 
  7.. Eric will table the first Chicago-Indymedia sponsored Healing Earth video salon event THIS WEDNESDAY at 7pm.  Healing Earth Resources is located at 3111 N Ashland Ave.  The film being shown is "Aftermath".  Eric is coordinating picking up the paraphernalia to sell at Healing Earth. 
  8.. Upcoming events: 
    a.. Tuesday, TOMORROW, is the one year anniversary of the Congress Hotel Strike.  There needs to be coverage from 4 - 6 pm. 
    b.. Thursday, at 6 pm, at the Doubletree Hotel (5460 North River Road, Rosemont) near O'Hare, Amy Goodman once again graces Chicagoland with her presence. 
    c.. Friday, at 10 am, is the action (at City Hall?) on the Stone Ordinance regarding CAN-TV. 
    d.. Saturday, noon, Lincoln Park Zoo "Healthcare for All" with Howard Dean, Jesse Jackson and Jan Schakowsky. 
    e.. Monday, 7 pm, Video Collective Meeting. 
    f.. There has been on ongoing strike at Treasure Island on Clyburn.
  9.. Dorina is doing an ongoing piece on military counter-recruitment and Students for Social Justice activities. 
  10.. Dorina is also planning an interview of a Congressional candidate running against Henry Hyde. 
  11.. There is movement toward doing a skillshare on creating a front panel from A-Z including links to audio. 
  12.. Conversation continues on preparations for the June 30th event at the Taste of Chicago.
