Hey,
I got a request from the anarchist queer contingent of the Queer Pride
March for some video coverage. I'll be there, wondering if other
videographers are interested, or photographers as well.

Creative Resistance to Homo-Capitalism:
Alternative Queer Pride Feeder March and Anarchist Contingent!
Join us as we say NO to assimilation and YES to queer liberation!
June 27th
9:30 AM- Meet at the corner of Lawrence and Broadway in Uptown
(off the Lawrence Redline stop of the "L")
10:00 AM- March south on Broadway through Uptown, detour into the notoriously
homophobic Wrigglyville neighborhood via turning down Grace and then on into
Boystown.
11:30 AM- Gather in the Petco parking lot at the corner of Halsted, Clark
and Barry
12:00 Noon- March as an anarchist contingent in the annual "pride" parade.
We have so much to celebrate as queer anarchists this June 27th. The 35th
anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, Emma Goldman's birthday, the IWW
was founded
on this weekend nearly 100 years ago, and that bastard Reagan is finally
dead!
Unfortunately we also have a lot to be angry about: the war on Iraq, the
violation
of our civil liberties, the threat to a woman's right to choose, prison
torture in
Abu Ghraib, Guadalajara and Cook County, the police murder of anti-police
brutality
activist May Molina, and the homophobic and AIDSphobic policies of the
commander-in-thief, George W. Bush.
We're inviting all anarchists, anti-authoritarians and autonomous
individuals to
join us for an exciting reclaiming of Pride Day. We need your bodies: queers,
trannys, dykes, fags, radical fairies, genderqueers, bisexuals, pansexuals,
omnisexuals, interesexed, heteroflexables, bicurious, questioning,
significant
others, friends, family and allies!
We plan on marching through Uptown for queer visibility and against
gentrification.
Uptown is a multiracial, predominantly lower-income neighborhood which is
quickly
becoming gentried, in part by middle class gay white men and lesbians who are
fleeing the North Halsted (Boystown) area seeking cheaper rent, since not-so
ironically enough Boystown is going through a second wave of gentrification.
Our detour through Wrigglyville is not only about queer visibility but is
also a big
"fuck you" to one of the most dangerous neighborhoods for queers and
transgendered
people in Chicago. We're marching through Wrigglyville to protest
homophobia and
transphobia and to bring attention to the fact that we will not tolerate
violence
against our communities, that queers and trannys bash back!
Last but not least, we are joining in the so-called pride parade as a queer
anarchist contingent to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Stonewall
Rebellion
and to protest the hijacking of the queer liberation struggle and
rewriting of queer
history. Stonewall was a riot, not a marketing opportunity. The Stonewall
Rebellion
consisted of drag queens, butch dykes, transwomen and other gender
outlaws, mostly
People Of Color, Black and Latina, who faught back against the racist and
homophobic
police. The Stonewall Rebellion was waged by the very people the
mainstream white
gay male and lesbian elite are trying to sweep under the carpet.
Bring drums, whistles, noise-makers, pots and pans, signs, banners,
puppets, floats,
pink and black flags! Let's make some noise! This is our fucking day- it
doesn't
belong to the cops, politicians, corporations or the self-appointed
leaders of the
gay community. Our pride cannot be bought and sold!
Also look for an anarchist contingent in the Dyke March on Saturday June
26th and
join us for a Post Pride Picnic in Zapata Park (aka Harrison Park, 18th
and Damen)
on Monday June 28th at 7:00 PM. Please bring vegan food (no meat, eggs, or
dairy),
musical instruments and games to play.

nobody swears, copulates, undresses or takes drugs.
