[CIMC-work] Zionist Proposal

 Chris K.,
Super kudos on this.

Some preliminary thought and discussion on this, that we
may better be able to take up in in-person discussion at
Sunday's meeting.

There are two reasons that those particular posts are
made to IMC. 1.) poster's naivete, and 2.) it's race-bait.

As we are familiar from previous flame wars, there will be
vehement opposition from a certain soul in U-C. A
further challenge of this might be the belligerant 'support'
of another certain soul at SF-IMC. Ha!, might we ask him
to sit this one out, and let us do 'the work'?

I think the important thing here is to move forward with
global consensus on this important issue. I also think,
that despite the notion of a weak global process, that
processes, meaning human relationships, nonetheless
exist, and that even if this proposal is not 'officially'
consensed on, if we work in a unifying manner (I'm not
saying 'compromising') we will still find success.

my thoughts,
g.

Chicago IMC,

The following is a process checklist for the proposal
which follows,
which is followed by referenced messages in the
lists.indymedia.org
 archive.

[  ]  one-week timetable for CIMC discussion, alternate
proposals,
 and/or agreement
 [  ]  CIMC consensus
 [  ]  translations
 [  ]  post to IMC-Process for network-wide consideration
and possible
 consensus

 === BEGINNING OF PROPOSAL

Proposal: A call for a unified Independent Media Center
response to
 Zionist solicitations

 - Given that the State of Israel has been killing
Palestinians, forcibly
expelling them, and subjecting remaining Palestinians to
military rule
 (see: www.ifamericansknew.org),

[  ]  I propose that any submissions to IMC websites or
lists in the
interests of the State of Israel, or for Israel-oriented
purposes,
should be judged to be Zionist, and should be responded
to as such.

 - Reference #1 shows the Jewish National Fund's non-
compliance with the
personal request made of them in reference #2.

 - Reference #3 shows the principle of non-discrimination
in the
Independent Media Center's Principles of Unity. Should
any local IMC
collective and/or any IMC participant put up with any
solicitation or
submission from any person or entity that tolerates or
encourages the
racism and killings perpetrated by the State of Israel? I
say that we
 should not.

 - Reference #4 explains that while Indymedia sites are
open-publishing,
they are subject to filtering by editorial policies which
leave the
 filtering visible to the public.

[  ]  Zionist-oriented posts, once judged as such by an
IMC collective,
 should be hidden.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this
proposal.
