[CIMC-work] Minutes from Sunday June 27 General Collective Meeting (part I)

Attending: Don, Alloy, Mitchell, Eric, Dorina, BHT (visiting from Portland's Indymedia group) and Garth.

  1.. Plans formed on covering the June 30th (that is Wednesday) "Taste of Democracy?" event across from the Congress Hotel.Likely attendees and roles: Dorina: photos and writing, Fetus: photos, Mitchell, Garth and Alloy: doing what they do best.  Chris G? 
    a.. Indymedia folks who wish to form a strategy prior to covering the "Taste" event should meet at Gourmand Coffee House located at 728 S Dearborn St at 4:30.
  2.. Center panel items upcoming(note: we can have up to 5 center panels running simultaneously): 
    a.. Taste of Democracy? 
    b.. Counter-recruitment story 
    c.. CAN TV Vote
  3.. Mitchell and Don are working on the Paypal link to be added to the website to get "The Democracy Store" up and running. 
  4.. Brandon is due to arrive into Chicago Thursday, July 8.  
    a.. On Friday, July 9, Chris G. and group plan to show the video "The Miami Model" about the crackdown on dissent at the FTAA in Miami.  The event will be at Chicago Filmmakers; we think it will be at 8 p.m. 
    b.. Saturday at 8 pm at Buddy's the video of "The Miami Model" along with the Bolivian video will be shown. 
    c.. Sunday in the early afternoon, there will be a guerilla filmmaking workshop at Buddy's (follow up with Chris G./Alloy for details) 
    d.. ALSO, on Sunday, please join the general collective for our regular meeting, which will be held at Alloy's place, 5426 W Windsor (about 4800 N).  After our meeting, we will be contributing to a BBQ/party.
  5.. TODAY: on WLUW, 88.7 Mitchell will be on with 13 minutes of his experience at the recent FCC Meeting, Rita has approx 1/2 hour about Doctors in Australia and the end of the show will be on the public health issue: the other side of AIDS. 
  6.. Don is off to Cleveland for about a week.  He plans to attend a national Muslim conference there.  Workshop topics on the schedule include civil liberties and media issues. 
  7.. Our financial report did not change from two weeks ago.  We still need to come up with $150 to pay rent on June 30.  This amount, and extra, will be borrowed. 
  8.. The next Indymedia film at Healing Earth will be "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". ** Thanks to Mitchell and Thomas on getting the video for the upcoming event.**  Due to "A Taste of Democracy?" on the 30th, the event at Healing Earth will be at 7:30, not the usual 7:00. 
  9.. In order to sell Indymedia paraphernalia at future events, Garth (and mle?) are going to set up backpack friendly travel "kits" with items like DVDs, T-shirts, buttons and brochures promoting Chicago Indymedia.
