I've made a proposal, and ask that people take this up and respond to same.
I've carefully read the email exchanges on this issue, and want to state in the
strongest possible terms that people should focus on what was actually said,
and not how people's feelings respond to something they think might be implied
in what someone might be thinking -- but didn't actually say. Down that path
lies peril. That is why I excerpted specific language from specific emails to
illustrate my points. I also want to point out that a person's ethnicity,
race, gender, gender orientation, et al is not the sole criteria which determines
their capacity to comment on issues of concern. If that were the case, we'd be
toeing the line that the Log Cabin Republicans promote. The issue at hand is
this collective's position on responses to or toleration of zionist
solicitations -- and apparently, where we stand on the issue of zionism itself. It would
be really great if we could focus on that.
Also, Thomas, having read the posts in this thread, I'm wondering if you
could point to Dick Reilly's specific language that seems to have set your sense
of injury in motion. I'm not seeing it, and I want to understand how this
thread took this particular turn. Also for the record, I'll tout my track record
when my right to express my concerns on these issues is challenged by race
baiting or any other unprincipled tactic. If this makes other people feel
uncomforable because they have no such track record, then they should tackle this by
BUILDING a track record by taking a principled stand on the issues of zionism
and zionist solicitation on Indymedia's wire. Finally, Thomas, I'd also
appreciate very much specific responses from you on the issues I raised in the email
which I re-enclose below. Bait and switch will not get us to the heart of these
issues, so lets get on with it.
To refresh people's memory about the proposal I've tendered re the zionist
solicitation issue, I enclose my previous post in its entirety after Thomas'
response below.

I reiterate. My original objection to Dick's e-mail was his somehow
linking my statement about moderation to ethnic cleansing and racial
violence.
As a person of color whose parents grew up under an occupying force I
refuse to accept any misconstrual about my views about ethnic cleansing
and racial violence.
And I do think the pink people in the collective are wrong if they
continue to go on and on about their credentials about racial justice when
the person of color in the collective is telling them that they have
personally wronged me by misconstruing and misrepresenting my views on
such extreme matters as ethnic cleansing and racial violence.
