Attn: Vdeo group people.

Got this from Ian's sister, contact her if you'd like to share. we talked about forming a video library, but never really got around to it. sounds like we can still help them out and distribute our (your) work.

Dear Emily,

Ian mentioned that you would be the best contact at Indyemedia for learning more about your video archives. First, I would like to tell you more about what we are doing. We are working on an exciting new community-based project called Videos for Change. Videos for Change is a video lending library created by the American Friends Service Committee¹s Chicago office to facilitate the distribution of progressive films and documentaries throughout the Chicagoland area. The library contains a growing collection of independent videos addressing significant social, political, environmental, and peace issues.

The Videos for Change library project was founded upon the belief that film has the power to effectively educate people about pressing social problems and inspire them to work for positive change. Videos for Change aims to make the many powerful and eye-opening independent films produced annually easily accessible to the public.

We are currently working on expanding our collection of videos. In order to build our video library, we are seeking donations from independent filmmakers, production companies, and video activist organizations.

You mentioned that Indy-media has a video archive. I was wondering where you get your movies? Do you distribute movies at all? Do you have any recommendations for how we can expand our library? If you do distribute movies, would you consider donating a copy to they library?

I hope to hear from you soon. You can contact me at (312) 427-2533

(business hours) or at mbicking at afsc.org.

Sincerely,

Monica Bicking
Peacebuilding Associate
