Hi everyone,

The list admins have been talking about how best to address this issue
over the past week-and-a-half. Because this is an extremely touchy
subject, and we wish to de-escalate the situation, we have been loathe to
single out single individuals on-list (though we've had discussions with
many people off-list). And we did decide on Tuesday (I apologize for the
delay) to issue a general warning to the list concerning our list purpose
and rules:

The goal of this new list is to provide a communications medium and
information dissemination point for all US IMCs. We are asking each IMC to
empower a liaison to be on this list.

***

A few quick list-rules:

1. Anyone working with a US-based IMC can join the list, voice their
opinions, raise concerns, etc.; however, only IMCs (as a collective) can
block proposals sent to the list.

2. Anyone joining the IMC-US-Process list is required to provide a brief
introduction stating which IMC they work with, what they do, whether they
are an official liaison, etc.

3. The list administrators are expected to actively facilitate
constructive and positive dialogue and discussion; abuse will not be
tolerated and people will be asked once to cease abusive postings before
being removed from the list.

4. Decisions will be considered approved by consensus of list participants
-- discussion periods will be announced on the list and IMCs may request
discussion period extensions.

5. Whenever possible, IMCs that block a proposal are expected to provide
an alternative solution to the problem at hand.

***

Please pay particular attention to rule #3 as the list moderators will be
actively enforcing it. I hope people understand that this decision was
made after lengthy discussion and by consensus of the list moderators.

In solidarity,
