Join the 2004 Rally for Retirement and
Carpenters Rights!
30 YEARS OF SERVICE/55 YEARS OF AGE AND OUT!
Thursday, May 6th
6:00 P.M.
12 E. Erie St. Chicago
Chicago District Council of Carpenters and Joiners
After one year of campaigning, thousands of
petition signatures, local motions, and finally
the 2003 rally for retirement, carpenters from
around the Chicago District Council successfully
knocked down the age of retirement without
penalty from 62 to 61.
LETS GET ANOTHER YEAR!
On May 6 we will be returning to the District
Council on allocations night to rally and turn
in over 5500 signatures calling for 30/55 AND
OUT! If you are a tool carrying carpenter, YOU
NEED TO BE THERE! The trades take too great of
a toll on our health to be working into our
sixties. This advance is needed to help our
brothers and sisters enjoy the fruits of their
labor at an age where it is still possible!
With work at its lowest level in years, and
carpenters scrambling to make their hours,
30/55 and out creates more work and hours for
all of us still swinging the hammer!
Demands for Carpenters Rights
*Bring an equitable and fair out of work system
to the locals
* Remove the 175 hour cap on benefits paid by
the contractors
* Return our right to vote for the District
Council (its in federal court right now!)
* Create a real contract effort in 2005 with a
direct vote from the membership!
* Reduce the executive pay of our officials to
be closer to the average wage of working
carpenters!
Earl Oliver: $234,000/yr
Jeff Isaccson: $200,000/yr
Gary Paritnart: $218,000/yr
