[CIMC-work] my synthesis of recent discussion on block, consensus, etc.

Thanks to the general collective for some good feedback on the current
dynamics in video.

One point which I wish to emphasize which I don't think I've communicated
effectively: two of the past three video meetings have been contentious
(in my opinion). The contentiousness is to the extent that I would be
hesistant to invite anyone to come to one of our meetings. ("Hello,
welcome to the video collective. We disagree a lot.") I think this until
we lighten the tone and process of our meetings, volunteer outreach would
be difficult.

I would point out also, that as Tom Baker is echoing my concerns about the
timing of going to a regular time-slot with CAN-TV, *it really is a
block*. (Though I have some concerns about a two person block
requirement, when there are only five people in the room. From my reading
of the materials that Andrew and Chris G. cited, there was also a 10
person quorum required for such a procedure.)

It is because of the contentiousness in our meetings that I have concerns
about video's lack of discussion about process and decision-making. The
emphasis on deadlines at the expense of discussion about conflict has the
feel of sweeping the conflict under the rug rather than resolving it.
We'll keep tripping on that.

Lastly, but not leastly, the prematurity of going to a regular time-slot
with CAN-TV is the more evident since we are apparently missing their May
10th deadline for submission of Episode 5. My understanding of why this
happened is that, again, much of our "work" time in the past few of our
meetings has been spent in contending with one another rather than working
together.

I have no doubt that the solution lies in the bottom of a frosty mug of
beer I aim to relish at Alloy's BBQ in the company of my friends and
collaborators, or as Chris G would say, conspirators...
