[EN] Several editorial policy issues have been discussed on the 
imc-process list: 1. Shayne asked for recommendations about handling 
racist posts in the newswire. 2. Nessie raised concerns about fascist 
and racist posts appearing on some IMCs.

people believe that they should not be allowed.

IMCs change over time, and may no longer follow the policies created in 
the new-imc process.

contradiction. Many people held intermediate positions, or proposed a 
synthesis, though others were strongly committed to either 'local 
autonomy' or 'global anti-fascist' positions.

Some intermediate suggestions included: 1. Working with the local IMC to 
modify editorial policy. 2. Preparing a recommended 'best practices' 
editorial policy. 3. Discussing the problem further at the global level.

[EN] I think that we should move this discussion to the EditorialPolicy 
list at http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/listinfo/editorialpolicy. 
There we could work on some of the suggestions:

1. I am interested in working with others to prepare a 'recommended' 
basic editorial policy. I understand that there is no mechanism to force 
an editorial policy onto a local IMC, and I believe that a clear basic 
policy might be accepted as a template by many IMCs. Much useful work 
has been done on new-imc and in the wiki 
(http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/ImcEditorial, 
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/ImcEditorialCollection, and 
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/EditorialPolicy) that can help 
with this project.

2. Others may want to discuss ways to work with IMCs that allow fascist 
material in their newswires to clarify their policy. The resolve list 
(http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/listinfo/resolve) may be useful, if 
a local IMC wants to have mediation on the issue. This discussion will 
clearly require respect and facilitation, if it is to be useful.

3. I think the entire general discussion about editorial policy should 
be moved to the EditorialPolicy list. This will allow imc-process to 
deal with other issues.
