hi,
first off, i'd like to give a big thanks to all the listwork people for their work over the past few years. reading over the documentation it becomes quite clear how many responsibilities you all have and how well you do your work and how important it is :)
and thanks jb for the clarification. good to see all that great documentation about listwork policies. i had never read that information and it's interesting. i'm not sure i remember an email coming to the list notifying of us of some of these changes, but i may have just missed it ;) also, i think i had focussed on how the lists had been set up for local imcs and even for all the lists i have ever requested in the last 4 years. but i can see that the policy has changed as all things do - evolving to be more effective and more in alignment with our values.
key section that was last updated january 2003 (meeting of sysadmin folks in porto alegre):
1. How mailing lists are created
o New collectives mailling list creation should be backed by the New-Imc working group: when a recently born collective or a still to born IMC wants a mailling list to be created, Listwork is to ask New-IMC if things are fine and if it is ok to create such a list;
o new lists for a collective should be backed by the collective: listwork should verify that a local collective is OK to have this new mailling list created, etc.
o global lists creation should be backed by their `parent' list (as an example, imc-tech should be OK with imc-sysadmin creation, etc.).
o other lists creation should be backed by process or a similar group, at the very least, a global process group should come with a proposal for what is to be done for creation of lists with fuzzy status
maybe what we haven't done yet is this last piece - the global process group/list needs to come up with a proposal about what is to be done for creation of lists with fuzzy status.
thanks for the clarification. this was all good to read.
peace,
sheri
i'm wondering if you could you provide a brief summary of what the process list's responsibilities are now? the listwork documentation talks about going to new imc for new collective list generation. i couldn't find something quickly about the role that the imc process list would play.
