Hello!
Because of your active involvement in publishing and the media, IPA-Chicago
invites you to take part in two days of workshops to build your skills,
network, and knowledge. An all-new Publishing Skills Track at the Making
Media Connections conference June 2-3 will offer 15 workshops covering the
business, editorial, and creative sides of publishing, with an emphasis on
independent media. Sessions include:
> Stand and Deliver: Success with Newsstands and Subscriptions
> Election 2004: Beefing Up Your Political Reporting
> Growing Pains: Expanding Your Publication
> Pen Is Sword: Copy-Editing Workout
And many, many more. Sessions feature presenters from Utne, In These Times,
RJ Dale Advertising, Medill's Academy of Alternative Journalism, Punk
Planet, the Washington Post, and dozens of community, ethnic, and national
publications.
And that's just the Publishing Skills Track! The conference, cosponsored
with the Community Media Workshop, offers more than 50 additional sessions
to bring you the big picture on media and social issues from speakers like
Linda Ellerby, Phil Ponce, Salim Muwakkil, Sylvia Ewing, and others.
You'll also meet media-savvy activists and leaders who are trained and
motivated to turn their knowledge into your content.
