The mirroring process changes a url from
http://dc.indymedia.org/local/metafiles/pic.jpg
to
http://images.indymedia.org/imc/washingtondc/pic.jpg
It takes a little while for the mirroring to happen and then the url to
change. They actually happen independently, so one could happen without
the other happening, this is why the images would work and then be
broken, the url would change but the image had not been mirrored.
Sometimes it happens the other way, an image may be mirrored but the url
might lag in being changed. So, if you're going to put an image on the
frontpage (or link a piece of audio or whatever) and the link hasn't
changed to the mirror yet, trying testing it manually to see if its
there.
Dada has better mirroring, btw.
