	Comrades!!

I am ranjit menon and I am from Mumbai, India.
I have almost completed my graduation in computer
engineering and I am pursuiing a career in computer
arts or animation/3d modelling. I am very much
interested in becoming a part of the independent media
in offering news activism articels regarding this part
of the country and maybe overall india too.

What I am not very clear about is, of what nature
should my views be off. Should
it be completely independent of the day to day news in
the papers/tv channels, or can I use it to promote
awareness regarding topics of my interest? Because if
the news nature is to be totally independent then I
need to be aware of many things from within an NGO or
an activist GROUP who can KNOW and access reliable
information on what is going on around us. As far as
indoctrination is concerned, I am very bothered by it
and would like to meet like minded people, because
people couldn't care less about it in these parts of
the world. Those capable are too busy with a routine
life and those who are not, for them indoctrination is
often a previlege. I really am interested in doing
political satirical cartoons of a sarcastic nature and
contribute using animation as a tool too, as graphics
adds a whole new dimension to real issues, apart from
reading about it. It reflects the mindset of the
people protesting too, and i believe i could be of
help in the same.

**For example there is a piece of news i could
post, it's about the "polio eradication" drive in the
city with huge hoardings occupying city space in an
ugly way, but more important than that, the people for
whom these banners are portrayed can't read english or
don't really look upto banners like these, and those
who can already know about polio or maybe more truly
are more occupied wiht their routine lives to look up
to some hoardings. There should be more effective ways
for making people aware, rather than acting as a cheap
excuse for failed election compromise gimmicks.**

So as to speak, the news of the above nature
which i am aware of day to day, or are news of such
kinds too short and lesser importance than the ones
you expect. You could definitely help me out by
replying about the awareness issues you would like to
portray in your site, if anything in particular.

Lastly, I would like to add that I
know an activist in sweden, who's activism area is
mainly south asia, and she is the one who introduced
me to this site.
Please do let me know how to have a head start!! I
would simply love to contribute to make people aware.
Also what is the impact of indymedia in this part
(India and mumbai)? Are many people aware of this?

                      			yours truly;
             				ranjit.
