[IMC-Editorial] Ek dhakka...Shared Footage mail no. 5

"Ek dhakka aur do"...those words immortalised by Uma Bharati when she was urging kar sewaks to demolish the Masjid,10 years ago to this day.We would like to use the same in a completely opposite and constructive context today...to give one more push to the Shared Footage Effort.We are on the verge of completing the shooting part and after a fairly smooth sailing,are now having to cut back on shooting some really important material.

APPEAL
In the last mail we had made an appeal for help in terms of money, manpower and material, but little was forthcoming.We are now at a stage where we have decided to wind up by end of December and have lots to complete by then.(Some vital tying up of loose ends etc. which Siddharth and Hassath are engaged in.)After that, Hassath, who has for some time been the anchor of the whole effort, will move to Mumbai and continue the logging and organising, without which the footage will not be accesible.Apart from money,we need help for the following.Please see if you could fit in by way of lending/funding.(As you all know by now,this effort is purely voluntary and is not funded by any agencies):

MATERIAL
(A rough wishlist)

For postproduction(from January):
-Computer...pentium pro or above(p2,p3 or p4)
-CD Writer
-Capture Card(mpeg capture with composite input)
-150 cds
-40 3-hr vhs tapes

For the shooting(until December).
-Mini dv camera
-30 minidv tapes
-40 hi8 tapes
-10 vhs-c tapes
-2 Tripods


HUMAN RESOURCE
Camerapersons to shoot now,..... and later, people to help in logging, transferring and transcriptions.We have some people already who have offered help for this part and we have been unable to utilise their services so far.This work is on right now and would pick up in earnest from January.People from Mumbai are specially urged to participate in this.
 
This is also an appeal to like minded filmmakers to start working this into their schedules....once the material is ready for distribution, please think of making several films from this.(Just to reiterate, this footage is not for sale and will be made available to ALL, free of cost,as soon as we are convinced that it will be used for the correct purpose!)

ACCOMODATION
Hassath would move to Mumbai, with her little daughter, for a few months from January(perhaps 3, perhaps more...depending on the work). We are looking for modest accomodation for her(maybe even to share).Ideally a place where we can also setup the computer for transfers and logging.This could mean odd hours of working.If we raise enough money, we could rent a small place in the range of 2 to 3 thousand.....though Mumbai brokers, with their commissions, could make the budget go awry!

We had earlier  listed the people who had donated and those who had given their time.We shall soon send an updated list.Many many thanks to those who have chipped in.
