suggested line to appear on all newswire pages (above the comments
section)

I spoke with one of the folks who does both tech &
editorial work for dc.indymedia.org about the recent
Fox News article that made an example out of a
non-representative newswire post (about Lord of the
Rings & racism).
I am guessing that this move may have given many
people the impression that indymedia is fluff of some
sort or another.
Here's a suggestion: that Indy sites put a terse line
and link that appears on newswire pages, just above
the comments section.
this line might say something like "please see
______.indymedia.org for more news and
www.indymedia.org for more global news."
if you want to add a bit more, that phrase could be
preceded by a line that says "this newswire post may
not necessarily represent the views of other indymedia
participants."
and the word "newswire" could link to the newswire
policy section of
http://dc.indymedia.org/info/display/editorial/index.php
this would make it a little harder for first timers,
clueless people, and fox news to misconstrue what indy
is is about.
