Dear IndyaMedia,
I would like to request you remove the comments concerning
Ms. Bhandari from your article found at the following URL.
http://india.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=8073&group=webcast
Somehow this article is a reproduction of a young 16 year old
girl's email to her aunty found at... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iish_oman/message/60
Although the girl's email is clearly from her addressed to
her aunty, it has since been posted on a public forum.
Your copy is reproduced and displayed as researched
editorial on your reputable website. And so I'm sure you
will want to consider it's removal, or having some of it
edited out, to match the factual story as published by
other reputable source, rather than keeping the
damaging sentences in the young girl's comments about
Ms.Bhandari to her aunty.
"....she has also printed an extremely vulgar picture of
a statue of Goddess Durga that was in the process of being made."
The reality is that Ms.Bhandari wasn't aware of the
photograph that The Toronto Star had selected to accompany
the article.
It is very very very unfair and irresponsible to not
properly investigate all the details before pointing fingers.
It can cause people undue harm to their careers and can
put them in physical danger from uninformed people.
Ms.Bhandari first saw the photograph that the star had selected the
morning when she read the printed paper. The same time the rest
of the star subscribers recieved their copy.
Sincerely,
John.
