I am a body esteem activist, and I work with people on body image
regularly. I am not seeing any names from the body image community here
endorsing this movie and it sounds like it may be quite offensive to a
segment of our population who do not fit into the narrow stereotypes of
beauty America embraces. I work so hard trying to help women with
anorexia and bulemia, to help women with low self-esteem who have spent
their whole life dieting, trying to shed big chunks of themselves for
acceptance, they are reduced to size regularly, and it seems we treat fat
people with disrespect as if they deserve that. I am not convinced this
movie is about health, as health also includes body esteem and an
appreciation for body diversity, something Americans sorely lack. My
first reaction to the description of this is it is PROMOTING FAT HATRED.
I, personally, find the fake documentary format and description of the
story line offensive.
My two cents,
