Celebration of Religious Diversity: Eight Religions Come Together to Foster Unity and Share Traditions

Bellevue, Washington - At a time in the world where religion is commonly seen as a source of discord and strife, members of the Bahá'í, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Native American and Sikh faiths seek to cultivate strong interfaith understanding through an interactive and informational fair. Everyone is invited to join together to celebrate unity in diversity at the Interfaith Diversity Fair on October 25th, to be held at Bellevue Community College (BCC).
The Interfaith Diversity Fair, sponsored by the BCC Multicultural Services and Student Programs Departments, has no admission fee and all ages are encouraged to participate. The day will start with discussions and workshops on the role of youth in spiritual communities beginning at 9:30am. The official program will begin with a keynote address from Jawad Khaki, the recipient of Walter Cronkite Faith & Freedom Award at noon. Throughout the rest of the day activities for children, information about different organizations and institutions, and food will be available. In addition, workshops featuring "Faith 101" a comparative religions panel and facilitated discussions titled "Purpose of Life" and "Life After Death" are planned.
The purpose of the Eastside Fair is to call attention to the harmony of spiritual principles and to emphasize that world religion is the motivating force for world unity. With the theme "Faith as a blessing for building loving and caring communities", the Interfaith Diversity Fair aspires to promote understanding of religion as a means to create love and unity in the Greater Seattle area. For more information about the workshops and speakers at the fair, please go to www.interfaithfair.com.
