_____
Wall Street Professional Pens Novel of High Stakes
The impetus for Junk springs from the twelve years that its author, Michael
Goodwin, spent working as a bond salesman on Wall Street. Junk is the story
of a black man's efforts to make it on "the street," and how those efforts
lead to espionage and murder.
Junk's main character, Martin Stallworth, is a young black man who is trying
to prove himself on Wall Street. Martin gets the opportunity to show what he
is made of when his investment bank, Whorman, Skeller & Co., sets plans to
launch a major high-yield bond deal for Lodestar, a satellite communications
company. But the stakes are high. This may be Martin's chance to prove
himself, but if he and his team cannot close the deal, his job is history.
In their desperation to prove their ability, Martin and his team experience
an unexpected turn of events that leads to illegal actions. One act of
espionage and two murders later, Martin finds himself solely accused of the
crimes. When he runs, both the cops and a gang hired by a rogue hedge fund
trader are only a step behind, tracking his every move.
Junk is a gripping Wall Street adventure revolving around one man's
determination to prove that a black man can play the money game as well as
anyone. But he comes to find that the game, like the market itself, is never
predictable.
