Summer University in Tamera/Portugal, hosted by: Sabine Lichtenfels

In Palestine a defenceless population is under attack by a heavily armed =
army. The refugee camp Jenin was razed to the ground. Surviving people =
try to save their family members from the ruins. Children are wandering =
about, not knowing where to go. What does a soldier, a man and a human =
being, feel after doing something like this, sitting in a safe tank? In =
what kind of world are we living, where something like this can happen, =
where such orders are given and followed? What is happening within human =
beings who watch such things in the news and go back to their every day =
life afterwards?=20

Whoever is still looking into the world with at least half an open =
heart, is stunned by terror. Is there anything left we can set against =
the globalisation of violence? Our heart says: Yes. It is our deepest =
wish and prayer, when we make ourselves aware of what is happening right =
know on the earth. Daily million fold pain must come to an end.

We invite you to participate in 10 days of the Summer University, to =
study an extensive peace concept, to research the questions; how can we =
effect a globalisation of peace? how can we transform our powerlessness =
into power? and how can we connect our political power of action with =
spiritual knowledge? If we don=E2=80=99t want to become the victims of =
hatred and revengeful thoughts, what we must learn above all is the kind =
of love which is more than a romantic feeling, which leads us to =
unconditional and fearless commitment and activity in favour of every =
and any living being. Because love is stronger than violence.

Speakers: Pater Nikolaus Brantschen (Switzerland, co-founder of an =
institute and NGO for spirituality in Politics and Economy (ISPW); Dr. =
Dieter Duhm (Psychoanalyst, Director of the Peace School Mirja, =
co-founder of Tamera); Pia Gyger (Switzerland, co-founder of the ISPW, =
training youth in spiritual-political consciousness); Gideon Spiro =
(Israel, radical peace journalist and co-founder of the committee =
"Freedom for Vanunu"); Sabine Lichtenfels (Theologian, Works for a New =
Women=E2=80=99s Consciousness, co-founder of Tamera). The "International =
Place of Encounter" forms part of the Summer University. Peace workers =

peace worker; Claudia von Werlhof (Austria), Professor for Women =

The Summer University is a retreat. We live in a simple way with nature. =
Accommodation is in tents and food is almost all vegan (no dairy =
products).=20
Parallel to the Summer University a children=E2=80=99s camp will take =
place.
