FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Beat this! Tacoma, Washington resident Chris Kimball decided to help his Rotary
club raise money from the old fashioned way-by beating it out of them! Actually
Kimball, a financial planner by trade, was a drummer in his former life and decided
to team up with Donn Bennett Drum Studios to help Rotary raise money to eradicate
Polio worldwide by breaking the Guinness World Record for drummers drumming.
The event is scheduled for President's Day, Monday, February 16 in the Tacoma
Dome, a huge sports arena in Tacoma, Washington. Each drummer will bring his
or her own drum set and any pledges raised to go toward the cause.
The event is a repeat of last year, when almost 300 drummers overflowed an airplane
hangar and $22,000 was raised.
Celebrity drummers who are scheduled to appear include Alan White of the rock
group "Yes", Mike Derosier of "Heart", Liberty DeVito who plays for Billy Joel,
Leon Taylor of "The Ventures", Scott Rockenfield of "Queensryche" and many more.
The group "The Ventures" will also be in attendance to help the hundreds of
drummers in attendance play the iconic drum song "Wipe Out".
Over fifteen thousand dollars of prizes have been donated by such companies as
Mapex, Sabian, Audix and others.
2000 pairs of earplugs have been donated for the event.
