Ihsan Cibelik Should Set Free!

Ihsan Cibelik, member of Grup Yorum (best known Turkish-Kurdish political music band), who had been released from TCK 399 on the 253. day of his death fast with the medical diagnosis for Wernice Korsakof while he was under arrest in Tekirdag F Type Prison, has been arrested on 22nd of January 2004 again because the report "he can never recover" has been canceled.

Ihsan Cibelik's arrestment is unlawful. This arrestment is a part of the politics, which are aimed at to break the death fast. It is also a dimension of the presses on Grup Yorum, which have been continuing for 19 years. In this arrestment as well as political power, AKP government and National Security Council (MGK) also Medical Jurisprudence has a part. All this institutions have conspired with cooperation.

Ihsan Cibelik has been given 27 years prison sentence and stayed from 1995 to 2002 under arrest. He entered into Death Fast, started in the year of 2000 in prisons, and has continued this resistance for 253 days. On the next days of the resistance, following that his health ruined, he has been released without his request. This was one of the politics that the power has practiced to end the Death Fast Action. Resisters was released one by one and said, "If you'll die, go and die outside!" Ihsan Cibelik, as the Medical Jurisprudence Institution determined, has caught the illness Wernicke Korsakoff during the resistance. Before, this illness, which appears as the result of long hunger, had been seen in disaster regions and Africa. As the medical science accepts it is also impossible to recover.

Ihsan Cibelik has released for 6 months with the argument that he can't stay in prison because of this illness. According to laws, his execution, which has been delayed for 6 months, has been extended in his following checkings.

But due to MGK and AKP government's today's politics, Ihsan's and hundreds of people's illness, who are in the same situation as Ihsan is pretended not to see and their reports are canceled. Ihsan has arrested with this reason also with the approval of the Medical Jurisprudence Institution. This is a complot. Ihsan's arrestment is as legal, as ethical, as medical as all of its sides an unacceptable condition. While the doctors of the Medical Jurisprudence Institution have evaluated Wernicke-Korsakoff a few months ago as unrecoverable organic mental illness, today they have convinced that Ihsan has recovered. In spite of the report, which says, that this illness can never recover, the doctors of Medical Jurisprudence Institution have prepared a report as "recovered" being an instrument to this politics. There is a falsification. The doctors are betraying to their professions. Now Ihsan will stay under arrest with his illness for more then 10 years. This is an unacceptable condition. This is injustice, illegality, inequity, and an unlawful application.

It must be brought to an end. All of our listeners should say something against this injustice.
