[IMC-Editorial] Plase tell the truth about human rights violations by Chavez

I'm a nonviolent activist working for democracy and freedom in Venezuela, my country. To my deepest surprise, I could find two contradictory messages in your website: first, that Indymedia is a democratic media outlet for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of truth; and second that you back up Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez.

Demonstrations last Feb28-Mar4 resulted in 400 people put to prison, 2000 injured, some 10 dead and some 5 just desapeared. Many human rights organizations, like Human Rights Watch, have issued alerts on the masive human rights violations by Chavez regime. Nonviolent protesters put to prison have been tortured. I invite you to verify the truth about Chavez. He is no Robin Hood at all!



Chavez is a fake that has brougth hate, violence, poverty and loss of hope to a once united country. It is not to say that our country did not have problems before Chavez, but all our problems have deepened. He lives a life of luxury while ordinary people have lost jobs and face the threath or a civil war.



Please, nonviolent democratic Venezuelan, includding true leftists, ask the truth to be said and known about Chavez.
