I am forwading again the proposal of Imc argentina, only the first step because
is the very urgent point and because the entire proposal is too long and you
need time to read it. The original deadline proposal for this step was 2 weeks,
but now is a problem, because the demostrarion is in 10 days, and if the finance
groups agree to help imc argentina to do a great coverage we need the money a
few days before of the action.
(we had some transalation problems and then a few day of non-aproval form the
moderators of the lists- so we re very late- )
The other step of the proposal is too keep working fine indy arg in the next six
months, and it is in the nikito email.

Request summary in two steps: First Step: Emergency fund intended to
> cover the mobilizations of December 15th to December 20th. (Deadline:
> 2 weeks/Total: US$500)
First Step: Mobilization on the 20th of
> December: This year, on the 19th and 20th of December, a historical
> event will take place in Argentina. Thousands of people will join
> together to organize and enact three days of direct action and
> mobilization that will spread throughout the country. This
> mobilization, similar to the one that occurred on the 19th and 20th of
> December 2001, will be highly attended due to the fact that the
> economic status of Argentina is rapidly deteriorating, with 55% of the
> population below the poverty line and little prospects for the future.
> The events planned up to this date are as follows:
1) December 15-20:
> Mobilization of unemployed workers ensuing from different areas of the
> country will travel to the capital in caravans, with the intent of
> entering Plaza de Mayo on the 20th of December.
2) Morning of
> December 19th: Various mobilizations in the center of Buenos Aires in
> protest of the stock market and other financial organizations.
3)
> December 19, 20: Mobilization and protest of a group of motorcycle
> messengers (this organization, called SIMECA, suffered two casualties
> on the last December 20th) December 21: Movement of a caravan in the
> direction of Ramayo.
4) Mobilization of local assemblies, movements
> composed of unemployed workers, and radical associations in the
> direction of Plaza de Mayo that will finish in conjunction to a
> national march on the 20th of December
5) Blocking of major
> highways/roads and marches in the immediate area outside of the city
> of Buenos Aires as well as in all other provinces
6) Day of global
> action and solidarity in dozens of countries around the globe
> Proposal: Indymedia Argentina and the news agency RedAccion, the most
> well known alternative media organizations, are planning a joint
> coverage of these events with public offices localized around the
> center of the city and in other alternative locations in order to
> promote the safety and security of our staff and material. The social
> and political climate in Argentina is becoming more and more tense. A
> month ago there was police repression of the alternative press. Today
> there is also the possibility of repression of the corporate press,
> with whom we organize different forms of spontaneous self-defense in
> order to confront various difficulties when reporting in the streets.
> Our three-day coverage will be based on the following major points:
1)
> The reproduction of 20,000 flyers in order to advertise and invite
> citizens to take part in and follow our coverage of these events.
2)
> Radio streaming in Spanish as well as in four other languages,
> conducted by an international brigade that has been working with
> Indymedia Argentina for various months.
3) Establishment of a public
> office in order to receive information and material, with various
> cellular phones with which to communicate in a direct manner.
4)
> Establishment of alternative offices from which to report (In South
> America there tends to be more repressive action than in Geneva and we
> wish to avoid that our coverage be stopped or delayed by illegal
> means)
5) Development of strong ties amongst members of various
> affinity groups and members of the press in order to facilitate
> communication and organization in the streets: One possibility for the
> near future is working with the organization of motorcyclists in order
> to facilitate the transportation of members of the press, photographs
> and videos.
Needed resources:
1) Five cellular phones (bought or
> rented, according to the price)
2) Batteries for digital cameras
3)
> Tapes for video cameras
4) Film
5) Money to pay for an Internet and
> phone connection at various different locations
6) Means to help
> members of the independent press that wish to send us coverage and
> information from other areas of the country
7) Establishment of an
> emergency fund reserved for medical and/or legal help
8) Reparation of
> 4 broken video cameras
9) For the 19th and 20th, we would also
> welcome anyone with the ability to translate from Spanish to a variety
> of other languages, as well as the repetition of our streaming signal.
> If you would like to become an active member, or are coming to Buenos
> Aires, your direct help is much appreciated.
some people thinks that we need to buy a few bullets prof vests, but we didn't
include it in the proposal :))
