Hi Anna,
I'm glad you brought this up here on IMC-finance and I think that I can help
with the portuguese/spanish translations.
How?
Well, next sunday, on our national meeting, we will be discussing the IMC
Brasil participation on the global lists and I will volunteer to be the
IMC-Brasil liaison on the IMC-finance list. So, since we can't depend on the
www-pt list to translate all the proposals sent to IMC-finance (at least not
on three days), I will be translating and summarizing whatever happens on
IMC-finance every week.
Besides that, since I'm subscribed to the IMC-latina list, I can post those
portuguese summaries there. Even though 90% of the people subscribed to this
list speak spanish and not portuguese, they can understand portuguese pretty
easily. Just like I can understand spanish. And since all latin american
IMCs have at least one liaison on the IMC-latina list, I guess this will
help us solve part of the translation problem.
Another thing that might help would be to send the proposals to be
translated directly to the www lists, like www-pt, www-es, www-fr, etc., and
not to the general translation list (translation@lists.indymedia.org). We
could compile a list of all the www lists and create an unique alias for
them. This way, whenever we sent a message to ALIAS@indymedia.org the
message would be sent to all the www lists. If everybody agrees, I can
create this alias in no time. (How could we call it? www-alias? :-)
Cheers for now,
Luis,
CMI BH, Brasil.
