[Imc-finance] trust, miscommunication and "ImcNigeria?" on the TWiki

hi imc-finance people,
i'm just browsing the imc-finance archive just as background
to the IMC Ambazonia new-imc application. So far i think the issues
(finance & new-imc) look independent from one another.

Here i'd just like to point a nice example of the fact that part
of trust means accepting the fact that there are likely to be
miscommunications, but our thoughts are actually very close to
one another, at least once we understand what each other is saying.
This doesn't mean we should ignore difficult questions.
And if some of us sound insensitive at times, well, we're all
fragile human beings - we make mistakes - so double check, give
people the benefit of the doubt, but still gently ask questions
which have to be asked. IMHO, there's close to consensus on this.
And we realise that for people with poorer internet access,
email communication is naturally more difficult. This is a tautology
(like saying "if the sky is blue, then it is blue"). (i think this
is close to what chomsky calls this a "truism".)

Here's the example:

(1) Nearly a week later, it looks like noone answered. i can understand
IMC Nigeria people being rather upset at this.

(2) The answer is purely technical - nobody has created the page yet.
Winters, anyone from IMC Nigeria, you are most welcome to register here

http://docs.indymedia.org/view/TWiki/TWikiRegistration

and then just click on the "?" after ImcNigeria and you'll be able
to make the page!

The TWiki syntax is a special sort of syntax so whenever you write a
word with two capital letters and at least one lower case letter in
between, like BeTween, such a word gets converted to a link.

If someone has already written the page, it appears as a full link.

If the page does not exist yet, you see just the question mark, to
encourage someone to write the page.

It is not a negative value judgment on IMC Nigeria!!! It just
means noone has written the page! And the best people to write the
page(s) are the locals...

There's more on the syntax here
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/TWiki/TWikiShorthand
though you can start just with plain text...

Conclusion from (1) + (2): we're thin on the ground, we're all trying
to do too much, not everyone always understands what others say - even
when we're all using English. Miscommunications happen. Please let's
not assume bad intentions behind every misunderstanding...
