[Imc-finance] Re: Seattle proposal, p.c. needing RAM

My name is francois, from IMC-South Africa. I'm the SA liaison for 
the imc-finance group.
hope to find you well.
I got your mail very late, not being able to follow all the list's 
posting during august-september, as the WSSD was driving us in a 
crisis mode everyday. South Africa IMC is very interested to get a 
few of these computers, as we are trying to build writing centres in 
the townships around johannesburg (soweto, orange farm, the Vaal, 
etc.) and elsewhere in the country, especially in the townships of 
Durban (Chatsworth, Wentworth, Mpumalanga...) and Cape Town 
(Khayelitsha, Mandela Park, Tafelsig...).

I haven't seen other mails on the finance list concerning your 
proposal. If I missed something, maybe you can tell me. I don't know 
what the process would be for the distribution of these computers. We 
can probably raise some money locally in order to buy the missing RAM.

The shipping costs, though, will be another issue. We also have to 
look at the imports rules and taxes in South Africa. I heard that a 
IMC woman from US is coming in South Africa around December, maybe we 
could try that way.

anyway, just some thoughts, but I obviously lack the information 
about the distribution process.
Just to let you know that some computers would be very appreciated in 
South Africa.
