i am forwarding the mail i sent to other list as a personal position
further i totally agree with john (alberta imc) email

i would like to add italy imc is preparing a collective position on the
issue and i will post it as soon as it is ready

personal quick note about all this
i have very little time to go into more detail

i believe that the point sheri stresses in "how do we take money" can be
fully subscribed (no strings attached, no relying on any foundation, and
so on)

I disagree though with two main things of the mail:

1. i think we cannot have global criteria reaching further than what
already exposed; i think fund pursuing should be mostly dealt at local
level, so as to make local collective the decision making body for the
yes/no issues; i think most of the decision needs to be mad eon case by
case basis since a lot of them come through a complex interaciton of
culture, background histories, current politics, etc

2. i think that decision always resides on local. so if there is a so
strong and motivated opposition from a imc, shared by many other imc,
it cannot be dismissed so easily. Having a network where people trust
each other, i think we all agree, is more important than taking ANY
grant. So better to miss a good opportunity but to grow a more trusting
network , than the other way around.

these are just quick thoughts that i hope contribute to the discussion
i also hope we go on discussing in a civil way, because i think that all
of us is up to the same goals and we dont' need to swear at each other
to reflect collectively :))
