Hi Sascha and all,
There are a couple of things I don't understand.
You said the money isn't going to be donated to the Indymedia Network as a
whole, but to the UC IMC instead. But isn't the money been SPECIFICALLY
donated for funding meetings between the various IMCs on the Indymedia
Network? Because, if it’s the case, then I think (and I'm sure I can speak
for the entire CMI Belo Horizonte collective) that this decision should be
taken by ALL the IMCs that are going to be part of those meetings and not
by the UC IMC, since they are not the only ones who are going to make use
of that money. Could you please explain it to me? Is the money being
donated specifically to fund meetings between IMCs or is it just an idea
of how we could use that money?
And the other thing is, even though I totally agree that local IMCs should
not have veto power over other IMCs projects and decissions, I believe
that each IMC has to know that they are part of a network and that they
decisions can sometimes have a negative impact on some other or even
several other IMCs. I respect the UC IMC autonomy just like I respect the
CMI BH autonomy, but since this donation can have a negative impact on
other IMCs, specially on IMC Argentina, I think we should definitely talk
this issue over and over and over again until we can reach a consensus
about it. Until then, I think no decision should be made about accepting
or not this donation.
