With all due respect sebastian, I don't find this discussion to be 
anti-democratic (we can still translate those emails). I agree the 
translation has been bad. But we need a forum for discussions surrounding 
these very important financial questions. What do you propose? What do 
others propose? What has been the standard practice? (my lack of 
participation here is my own ignorance)

for the record, I have written 3 emails total to this list in the last year 
(this being the 4th), and probably the last two years. I am deeply concerned 
about the discussion around money and i am currently the only representative 
from los angeles who is putting time into this. many of us had discussions 
about these very issues.

the issues being raised need to continue somewhere, and clearly with better 
translation.
