Hi, 

I suppose you can only deal with requests that ask for money to buy new 
stuff, not people who want used computers, and that's why nobody answers. So 
to be more clear, the question here was: 

Can we get money for shipping and tax? 

Sorry, I can't tell you how much that will be. But I would like to know 
before we ask at different IMCs in Europe, if you would pay in principle 
(it'll surely be less shipping and tax for eight computers than buying one 
new computer) so they also know if that's taken care off.

The original request 

1. The project 

We have organized a room in a house that serves for art exhibitions and as 
meeting space for several initiatives. In a room under the roof we can have 
our own space. The work to fix the place will be done by ourselves. We don’t 
have to pay rent, because the owner wants to support us and the room under 
the roof is not used anyhow. So, he is glad we are fixing it. 

We would like to use it
 -as an open internet access space for activists 

 - to do workshops, which we have to do until now in different places, mainly 
internet cafes. 

 - to edit the website, which we have to do currently from internet cafes and 
workplaces, because no one has internet at home 

 - generally to encourage people to write articles on computer also for a 
leftist newspaper project 

We can use an already existing satellite connection from the house, so we 
wouldn’t have to pay for that either. 

2. Computers 

We don’t have any computers for the space yet. We don’t necessarily want to 
buy new computers, any used computers would be good. We were hoping that we 
could maybe get 6-8 used computers shipped over from Europe. Does anybody
have extra computers? Is this kind of thing even handled through this list 
or should we contact each European indymedia individually? 

3. Funds 

We would like to apply for shipping and tax costs - the amount would depend 
on the country where they are shipped from, so we can’t tell you that now. 
Once we have them, we would also like funding of Arabic keyboards.
