Well, I really don't know, because it depends on the number of computers we
can get in the end, the country where they are shipped from and, on top,
taxes can be quite arbitrary here (maybe we find someone whose cousin works
at the port...:).

But let's say $500 - that would cover it and in case we get less computers
or have to pay less tax we could use that for the arabic keyboards.

It is an indymedia project, planned by the indymedia group. But since
indymedia Beirut is very much part of the left movement as a whole it would
be impossible to have this space exclusivly for indymedia. The idea is not
to have a space for the indymedia group, but for everybody. So, of course,
if someone wants to type his article for a leftist student paper, we would
encourage that as much as we would show people how to work with the
indymedia site. It would also be a space where activists can learn how to
use a computer. I think that’s the idea of indymedia, no?

Yeah, I talked with Xavier from IMC UK about this when we met in Escanda,
but I actually didn’t even know until now that it was called tech solidarity
project. So, yes in fact this was on possibility I was thinking of but I had
no clue that it was so concrete and already close to shipment. What is the
contact of the project? BTW. if that's a sort of official project (I had
thought it was just some people in the UK), do they have funding? Because
then, I guess, I would have to ask for a lot less.

Nope, at least last time I checked (about two weeks ago). I tried to work my
way through all the docs mentioned in the welcome email, but that’s really a
lot, so sorry if I didn’t understand the process.

cheers,
