First off, this seems like a very reasonable request. You should  
rewrite it a little to include budget numbers and a timeline. Generally  
if it is not urgent it is best to give three weeks to a month for  
people to comment. If you're really organized you'll spec out what  
projectors you want to buy as well as alternates which are cheaper if  
folks feel like the request is too expensive.

Regarding editing. Most indymedia video activists in the US and Europe  
are using desktop computers with FinalCut Pro or other video editing  
software and firewire to connect their computers to their cameras. This  
is a way of doing pretty good editing without spending tons of money on  
a specialized very high end system. Projectors for video tend to be  
pretty expensive and they vary a lot in quality. You'll want to talk to  
somebody who knows about these things.

One thing you might consider how you are planning on getting the  
equiptment. Indymedia doesn't have much money and if it's possible to  
have them purchased in the US then taken to India in somebody's bags  
then we can save a lot of money. I know there are huge indian expat  
communities in London and New York.
