a few observations...speaking as an individual about to bring this
proposal to the st. louis indymedia.
no one person is in charge of global finance. evan is speaking as an
experienced indymedia *individual*, not for the finance list. his
encouragement on this list to the india proposal was very friendly and
open. he made a lot of good suggestions in this email. some of those
words contradict the email he sent off-list, and that, in my mind, is a
whole separate issue that needs to be worked out as well. i think it
may have been better if evan had voiced his concerns to the list in
perhaps a more polite manner. we should remember that we're all on the
same side here, and we need to treat each other with respect.
i am very supportive of india imc doing video and showing films. in st
louis, we have similar projects, and i think they are very important.
in bringing this proposal to the st. louis imc, i would like to have
some more information to respond to questions that i think will come up:
is there any way that imc india can do fundraising in india? have
people looked into grant writing? what funds are available for other
imc projects, and how have those funds been secured?
what equipment can be obtained used or refurbished?
is there a way that global finance can support part of this project, or
a smaller version of the project, and the rest of the support can come
from other sources? (sort of like a matching grant?)
how can this equipment be sent/brought from countries with lower prices?
i hope we can move forward with this proposal in a positive way.
peace,
liz, stlimc.org volunteer and finance liaison.
