[Imc-finance] Proposal 2004-B Dakar Conference request

Hi everyone,
I am not speaking as a liaison to the seattle imc. I am speaking just as myself who cares about our process and is trying to take into account the interests of the whole.
I have a few concerns that I have already mentioned to Sascha, Joeri and Jay. Most important, I think it's a great proposal and I support it happening!
However, I have a few concerns:
1. For an amount as large as $7500USD to come out of the remaining global bank account, I believe we need a longer amount of time than 2 plus weeks. We still do not have translations and that is critical. I believe that the original proposal had something like a month, but I can't remember.
2. This is approximately one-third of the remaining funds (actually a bit more than that) and that means this proposal must be clear to all participants in the network.
3. We still do not have a process or a clear way forward to RAISE money for the network and this means that we are using funds for which we do not have any way of replenishing.
4. I believe that we must develop a plan for large proposals like this to be supplemented by other funding sources, not just because it will help the little bit of money we have left go further, but also because it will teach us what we will need to be doing once these funds are gone.
Those are my main concerns. I hope they are addressed by all concerned.
I also hope that all the people on this list will share this proposal with their local collective and get feedback on it.
Once again, I would love to see a conference happening in Africa and help build a stronger network in that country. That is not in question. What I question is whether we need $7500 of our global funds to do it.
